I love Autumn. I find it hard to pick a favourite season because they all bring something to the table, so to speak. I love Spring with its lambs and budding tulips. Summer means the sun, sand and ice cream and winter means frosty mornings and Christmas.
But Autumn. Well, Autumn is all about colour. I can’t picture a life without colour. Our house is full of it. I admire interiors that are modern, minimalist and colour coded. They look so chic and sophisticated! But colour comforts me, it makes me happy. And there are so many lovely ones to choose from.
So, when Autumn arrives in it’s gold, amber, red and bronze glory, I feel so happy. Seeing all the leaves changing colour and watching them dance about on the pavement is mesmerising and the air just smells different.
Which is why I wanted to quickly list my 10 favourite things about Autumn:
1) Colour.
Obviously! Ha!
2) Leaves.
Swirling, falling, crunching. Just brilliant.
3) Darker evenings.
Not a favourite for everyone but I find them cosy.
4) Hot chocolate.
Nothing better to add to that cosy feeling.
5) Foraging.
Conkers, acorns, pretty leaves and pine cones… myself and the boys come home from the park or from a walk with pur pockets full of them!
6) Pumpkins!
Colourful, delicious and crafty. Ticks all boxes for me!
7) Halloween!
I’m getting into the spirit (haha!) of things this year as our toddler, Teddy, is starting to get the basic gist of holidays and special occasions now. I won’t be using fake blood or scary masks but fun things like Pumpkins, sweets and creepy crawlies are high on my list this year.
8) Bonfire night!
I love the smell in the air around bonfire night. Fireworks mixed in with woodsmoke in chilly air makes my nose tingle and I feel excited like I used to as a kid. Definitely going to look for a display to go to this year!
9) Bed Socks.
Chilly evenings mean cold feet for me, so out come the thick, fluffy socks. Then I kick them off during my sleep as I get too hot!
10) Comfort Foods.
The summer diet (if one has been embarked upon…) goes out of the window and hibernation mode sets in. Which means baking pies, cooking casseroles and simmering stews. Otherwise all that pumpkin goes to waste?!
What do you love most about Autumn?
Bonfire night! The best! #fortheloveofBLOG
Am so looking forward to it! xxx
This is a great list. I love autumn. I like it because it is a season of change- weather, clothes, food etc. #CoolMumClub
Thank you! Exactly, a change is as good as a rest so they say 😉 xxx
I always love the change of seasons because they all have their own fabulous characteristics!!

So true! Nature is beautiful xxx
Couldn’t agree more – Autumn is the ultimate in cosy and as a Mum, who spends most evenings indoors with the fire on, this is the time of year I love!
Thanks for sharing with #coolmumclub
Ooo, I forgot to list a roaring fire! We have a log burner and its so nice to cosy up with it crackling away of an evening 🙂 thank you for commenting lovely xxx
Oh yes, yes and yes! I love autumn and bed socks ah, so relaxing!
#ablogginggoodtime
They’re the best aren’t they?! Xxx
Great list. The colours are probably my favourite too. #CoolMumClub
Thank you! Anything colour is always popular with me. xx
There are some things about Autumn that I love especially hunting for conkers (seem to be doing a lot of that lately) but I’m disliking the fact that I can’t get the washing to dry easily (grrr). It also reminds me that it’s nearlt Christmas and firework night really sets the scene for that. Thanks so much for linking up at #fortheloveofBLOG. Claire x
I hear you on the washing front! Am so thankful for our tumble dryer. But for the things I can tumble dry, I do have to hang them up all around the house and it ends up looking like a launderette for most of the week! xxx
Yes yes and yes to them all. I am missing the hot chocolate tho as I am on a diet boo hoo!
thanks for linking to #ablogginggoodtime
Ohhhh! Boo hooo indeed! Would be lost without my hot chocolate, it stops me from eating actual chocolate a lot of the time. xxx
Autumn is such a gorgeous season isn’t it? I love the trees changing and the conkers falling. Less keen on the dark mornings though! Thanks for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday
It’s just so pretty! And there is something really thrilling about discovering a new, shiny conker.lol! Dark mornings aren’t so great, but then I quite like them if we have a chilled out day ahead. If I have to be somewhere it feels a bit grim! xx
