Blogger Recognition Award for Me, Being Mummy

Nomination for the Blogger Recognition Award

I have been a blogger for quite a few years now, but being nominated for any type of award still gives me a butterfly feeling of excitement and gratitude in my tummy. Thank you so much to Vicky over at The Mummy Bubble for nominating me for the Blogger Recognition Award. Vicky’s blog is an amazing site full of all sorts of brilliantly written articles related to parenting and lifestyle. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed!

What is the Blogger Recognition Award?

The award is designed to give recognition to hard working bloggers. It shows appreciation to all the work that goes into each post and gives a nod of acknowledgment to all the time and effort they spend on making their sites the best they can be. It is also a great way to discover new blogs to read and to gain inspiration from the talent that is out there.

How Me, Being Mummy Started

I began writing this blog when I was expecting our first son, Teddy. I had already dabbled in blogging about Hair and Beauty for my hair and makeup business Style with Grace, but Me, Being Mummy has been my main focus as all work took a back seat as soon as motherhood came along. It is a place where I can share all my experiences as a mother, collecting all the precious memories that I make with my family and making some amazing connections with fellow bloggers along the way.

Two Pieces of Advice for Fellow Bloggers

Be Consistent

It is so important to keep consistent with blogging. I struggled with this a lot, until this summer in fact. I made a lot of excuses like ‘There is just never enough TIME!’ and ‘Life is just too BUSY!’. Plus, with the birth of Baby George back in March along with my diagnosis of PND and PTSD, my head really wasn’t in the right place. It’s hard to focus on a blog when you can’t even focus on making toast!

But over the summer, my mind started getting back round to thinking up blog posts and I rebranded Me, Being Mummy whilst becoming self hosted. I now MAKE the time for myself to work on posts and have committed to consistently publishing four a week. My schedule is that I upload general posts on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays plus I host my brand new HoneyBee Linky on Mondays. People know where to find me, I know what I am doing and when I am doing it… It’s helped a lot!

Reach Out and Support Other Bloggers

I am naturally shy. A lot would be very surprised to hear this, but I really am. I find it hard to approach people, be it in person or online. I over think things a lot, am my own worst critic and always fear that I shall come across as a complete idiot. But, in the blogging world, there isn’t much room for shyness. The very back bone of a blog is networking, which obviously requires you to be sociable. To reach out and develop relationships with others. So, if you are anything like myself, fight that shy factor and reach out to others.  It might be that you like and share a fellow blogger’s post, or that you retweet and reply to one of their posts on twitter. Or even PM/DM a blogger you admire and aspire to and tell them what you love about their blog. You will boost their self esteem and feel good yourself for doing so. Not to mention you will have made a connection and successfully networked your own brand and blog. Don’t over think and procrastinate. Just get out there and get connecting!
